CITB HS&E Tests

We offer a number of different CITB HS&E Tests which will allow you to apply for the various CSCS cards.  If you require further info on what is required to obtain a CSCS card, please visit https://competencematters.everyone-do4.com/cscs-cards

Tests we currently offer are:

Operatives HS&E Test (Green/Blue CSCS Cards)

The Operatives test ensures workers have a minimum level of health, safety and environmental awareness before going on site. This test covers the following five core knowledge areas:

•    Working environment
•    Occupational health
•    Safety
•    High risk activities
•    Specialist

The pass mark for the Operatives test is 90%. To pass, you need to answer at least 45 out of 50 questions correctly.

This is suitable for anyone looking to gain their Blue CSCS Card, Competent Operator Card, or their Green Labours Card

To obtain your Green CSCS Card, you must complete the Operatives HS&E Touch Screen test as well as the 1-day Health & Safety Awareness course

Specialist/Supervisors HS&E Test (Gold CSCS Cards)

These tests include questions from the five core knowledge areas contained in the Operatives test as well as relevant questions in the chosen specialist areas. The Specialists test can be taken in the following topics:

•    supervisory (SUP)
•    demolition (DEM)
•    plumbing (JIB) (PLUM)
•    highway works (HIW)
•    specialist work at height (WAH)
•    lifts and escalators (LAEE)
•    tunnelling (TUNN)
•    HVACR - heating and plumbing services (HAPS)
•    HVACR - pipefitting and welding (PFW)
•    HVACR - ductwork (DUCT)
•    HVACR - refrigeration and air conditioning (RAAC)
•    HVACE - services and facilities maintenance (SAF)

Manager and Professionals HS&E Test (Black CSCS Cards)

Manager and Professionals HS&E Test (Black CSCS Cards)

This test covers the following six core knowledge areas:

•    Legal and management
•    Health and welfare
•    General safety
•    High risk activities
•    Environment
•    Specialist activities

Specialist activities will include questions on Construction (Design and Management Regulations), Demolition and Highway works.

The pass mark for the Managers and Professionals test is 92%. To pass, you need to answer at least 46 out of 50 questions correctly.

This is suitable for anyone looking to gain their Black CSCS Card

To obtain your Black CSCS Card, you must complete the Manager and Professionals HS&E Touch Screen test as well as one of the following:

• A relevant Construction Management/Technical related NVQ or SVQ at Level 5, 6 or 7
  plus;
   

• An SVQ at Level 4 in Construction Management/Technical related qualification, or hold a pre-existing NVQ at Level 4 in Construction Management.

Each test lasts 45 minutes and is made up of 50 questions. It is recommended that you review the revision materials (https://citbrevision.pearsonvue.com) before taking any of the tests. Additionally, there is a CITB Operatives App that can be downloaded which provides further revision material for the test.

CPCS Renewal Tests

Ensure your CPCS Blue Competent Operator card stays current by successfully completing the CPCS Renewal Test. This test verifies that your knowledge of each plant category or group on your card remains up-to-date.

Tailored for experienced plant operators, our tests cover essential industry knowledge and are developed in collaboration with the construction plant and trades sector. Each renewal test is a brief 15-minute assessment, and you'll need to take a test for each group of categories listed on your card.

If you've added a new category to your CPCS Blue Competent Operator card within two years of its expiration, you're exempt from taking the renewal test for that specific category during the card renewal process.
